Have you read Dr. Thomas Szasz's book titled, "Anti-Psychiatry: Quakery Squared"?
I've read reviews of it and I think excerpts off Google Books.
It looks interesting.
Szasz advocates the abolishing of involuntary treatment and commitment and the abolishing of the insanity defense. He posits that if these two items were abolished, then institutional psychiatry as we known it would have little structural integrity, because he argues that these are the bedrocks of the abuses.
